Gilmer County Tax Commissioners Office is recruiting for a full time Front Counter Clerk.
This position consists of administrative/clerical duties in support of the Tax Commissioners Office. Provide customer service to customers in the lobby and over the telephone. Appropriately address customer issues while respecting business needs. Meet deadlines and manage assignments to achieve performance goals, while focused on efficient and effective problem resolution.
Weigh the needs of the taxpayers and the department to decide the best course of action for all parties, given limited or no supervision. Promote a team atmosphere and be inclusive of all team members. Must work well with co-workers and management.
Accept responsibility for one’s actions with honesty and integrity, while maintaining credibility and remaining committed to organizational success. Must have effective oral and written communication skills. Balance cash drawers and count back money to customers.
HS/GED, preferred 1 year of previous experience at the Title Examiner level or 2 years of experience in the examination, preparation, or auditing of title documents. Knowledge of both title and tag and property tax billing preferred. Must have experience using MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Experience navigating and researching information on the Department of Revenue site. Demonstrated ability to provide effective customer service. Proven ability to work well under pressure.
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week. Hours are 8:15am– 5:15pm
