The Gilmer County Board of Commissioners has an immediate opening for a Full-Time Assistant Planning and Zoning Director.
The purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the Planning and Zoning Director, and assume the Director’s duties in overseeing building inspections, permits, and personnel, in his/her absence.
Performs technical tasks involving the interpretation and implementation of ordinances; interprets the zoning ordinance; interprets local, State and Federal laws; administers and implements the requirements of the Gilmer County zoning ordinance.
Performs various administrative tasks for the division and department; grants or denies variances; assists in preparing budget; monitors budgetary spending to ensure compliance with established guidelines and limits; certifies zoning of property required by lenders prior to loan closures.
Operates personal computer, fax machine, phone system, copier, and other equipment necessary to compete essential functions, to include the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and other system software utilized by the department.
Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Development or closely related field; or a combination of four (4) to six (6) years of experience in planning and zoning.
Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
Hourly rate between $15.00 – $17.00 depending on experience, certification and qualifications. Gilmer County offers a generous benefits package including; medical, dental, vision, life, 457b with employer match and paid vacation/sick time.
