Gilmer County Georgia Roads Department
The Gilmer County Public Works Department has an immediate opening for a Full-Time Public Works Office Assistant.
The purpose of the position is to perform administrative support of the Public Works Department (Road, Maintenance & Solid Waste) under the direction of the Public Works Director.
Provides administrative/clerical support by maintaining calendar/schedules, confirming appointments, meetings, interviews, conferences, training activities, and/or other activities.
Coordinate meetings, prepare meeting notices, agendas, attend meetings, record and/or transcribe meeting minutes, distribute documentation, and maintain records.
Provide customer service, answer the telephone, greet visitors, provide information, respond to inquires/complaints, research, and initiate problem resolution.
Perform data entry, process documentation for purchasing and accounts payable, prepare purchase orders, review invoices, verify the accuracy, make corrections, and maintain files and records.
Must be organized, have excellent communication skills, able to work independently with little direction, take initiative, and willing to use a two-way radio.
High School Diploma/GED required. Must have 3-5 years of office administration experience.
Must have a valid Georgia Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
Proficiency in Word and Excel required. Able to prepare and receive, various forms, reports, correspondences, and/or other documents. Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
This is a full-time hourly non-exempt position eligible for full benefits after a waiting period. (Medical, Dental, Vision, Life/AD& D/STD/LTD insurance, accrued vacation and sick time)
