- NOTICE OF PROPERTY TAX INCREASE (August 3, 2026)
The Gilmer County Board of Commissioners has tentatively adopted a Maintenance and Operation (M&O) millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes of 7.80 percent. All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this tax increase to be held at the Gilmer County
Community Center at 824 Industrial Blvd., Ellijay, Georgia 30540 on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 5:00pm.
Times and locations of additional public hearings on this tax increase are as follows:– Wednesday, August 19th at 6:00pm, Gilmer County Community Center (824 Industrial Blvd., Ellijay, Georgia 30540)
– Monday, August 31st at 9:00am, Gilmer County Community Center (824 Industrial Blvd., Ellijay, GA 30540)
This tentative increase will result in a Maintenance and Operation (M&O) millage rate of 6.079 mills, an increase of .440 mills over the computed 2026 rollback rate. Without this tentative tax increase, the M&O millage rate will be no more than 5.639 mills. The proposed tax increase for a homestead property with a fair market value of $425,000 is approximately $73.92 and the proposed tax increase for a non-homestead property with a fair market value of $200,000 is approximately $35.20.
